DIRECTOR

The Opportunity

We're seeking a Director to help bring our original full-length musical to life in October at Potrero Stage in San Francisco! "Silicon Valley: The Musical" is a 2-hour satirical comedy about the Silicon Valley experience.

Performance Dates: October 13-25, 2025
‍Rehearsal Period: ~2 months leading up to performances
‍Time Commitment: Approximately 10 hours per week (we all have day jobs but will take some time off leading up to the performance!)

What We're Looking For

• Experience directing musical theater productions
• Good taste and creative judgement
• Comfort working with unconventional performers and limited resources
• Vision for staging, blocking, and bringing our tech satire to life
• Collaborative spirit and patience with enthusiastic amateurs

About Us

We're a group of friends who decided to write and perform our own musical because we had stories to tell about the insanity of Silicon Valley tech culture. This is not a heavy-handed commentary on tech ethics, but it is a satirical exploration of the culture, aspiring to be the Book of Mormon for Silicon Valley.

• ❌ We are not professional actors/singers/dancers
• ❌ We don't have a big budget

Compensation

• $1,000 flat fee for the full engagement, plus...
• Ticket revenue share (percentage TBD based on final arrangements)

The Story

A satirical musical following Quinn (a brilliant robotics engineer) and Dave (the charismatic business guy) as they navigate:

• Dropping out of college (obviously)
• Starting a company and trying to raise money
• Boardroom rap battles and co-founder conflict
• Moving into a group house (and losing your innocence)
• Dating (but everyone you meet is a tech bro)
• Robot consciousness and AI ethics
• Burning Man

Complete with songs like "Drop Out,", "More Than A Tech Bro" and "Just Raised"

Rehearsal Expectations

• Realistic schedule - We understand everyone has day jobs
• Flexible evening/weekend rehearsals
• Table readings live in San Francisco
• Intensive tech week leading up to opening
